How to ask your company to reimburse coaching

Yes, this is possible and common. A number of my clients are able to have their coaching paid for by their employers.

Here’s a template you can use to make the request.

SUBJECT: Request for Budget Allocation: Leadership Coaching

Dear [Manager's Name],

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to discuss an opportunity that I believe could significantly benefit my personal development, our team, and the overall success of our [engineering/product/organization’s] efforts.

I have identified a valuable coaching resource that has the potential to enhance my skills and, in turn, our team's capabilities.

Sarah Ing is a Leadership Coach who specializes in coaching women in tech, including founders, engineers, and product managers. She also coaches leaders at Zinc, a social impact VC. Sarah has an impressive background, with over a decade in tech as a software engineering leader, hiring manager, and VC-backed founder.

The estimated cost for engaging this coach is [INSERT PRICING], covering a [3 or 6]-month coaching program.

I believe that this investment aligns with my development goals for the upcoming quarters and will result in a positive return on investment within our team.

Thank you for considering this opportunity. I look forward to your guidance on the next steps.

Best regards,
